Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1988 and began his career as a programmer. His early experience in technology helped shape his analytical approach to problem-solving, planning, and decision-making.
Bill’s career later shifted when he took over his father’s cheesesteak stall, Andy’s Best, in Baltimore’s historic Lexington Market. What began as a family opportunity became the start of a long career in business ownership. Bill later purchased Mount Olympus, a neighboring Greek food stall, where he continued developing his skills in operations, customer service, market awareness, and day-to-day business management.
While working at Lexington Market, Bill met Effie Athan, who operated her own business, Sandwich King. Effie became Bill’s wife and business partner, and their shared entrepreneurial background eventually led to a lifelong partnership and a new business venture together.
In 2005, Bill and Effie sold their individual businesses and purchased the Fork Deli in Fork, Maryland. After managing a seven-month renovation, they transformed the space into Sunshine Grille, a family-style restaurant known for breakfast, Greek cuisine, and gourmet sandwiches. Over the next two decades, Bill and Effie successfully operated the business together before selling it after a long and rewarding run.
This experience gave Bill firsthand knowledge of what it takes to understand a market, serve customers well, adapt to change, solve problems, and deliver consistent results.
Today, Bill brings the same practical mindset to his work as a REALTOR®. Whether helping a buyer secure financing, advising a seller on strategy, or assisting an investor evaluating a property, Bill believes the first step is listening carefully and understanding the situation before recommending a path forward. His years in business taught him that every client and property is different, and that good decisions start with understanding the problem clearly.
Bill views every real estate transaction as an investment. His firsthand experience purchasing, selling, and personally financing properties has taught him that real estate ultimately comes down to both dollars and “sense.”
From his days as a computer programmer, Bill has always enjoyed problem solving. In today’s real estate market, few situations are simple. Bill finds the most satisfaction in helping folks navigate major life transitions to create better situations for themselves and their families.
